Where's the problem with recycling?

THE regular letters to the Free Press about the lack of weekly bin collections baffle me.
The writers are clearly concerned enough about their local environment to not want unsightly waste lying around, nor attracting vermin etc., yet so little about their local area that they are content to continue adding a wheelie-bin full of rubbish to our landfill sites every week (or they would like to).
Our black bin was full last week - I felt very guilty at the sight of all that rubbish - but then we had not put it out for collection for at least 10 weeks! Granted there are only two of us, but for all those who complain the current system is unfair to those with large families, by my reckoning at our rate, we would need a family of 10 before we filled our wheelie bin every two weeks. We do nothing special, other than composting and recycling what the council takes. We do try not to buy products with lots of packaging or take carrier bags from shops and we waste as little food as possible. Where's the problem?
