1. Could You Be Loved - Bob Marley And The WailersA huge reggae fan - and Bob is the man for me. He was such a massive icon when I was growing up. I listen to some Marley every day.
2. Stuck In The Middle With You - Stealer's WheelBrought to public attention by Reservoir Dogs but I loved it long before that. Its by Gerry Rafferty, the same guy who did Baker Street. The lyrics say it all.
3. Down In The Tube Station At Midnight - The JamAnother great song writer - Paul Weller sums up the mood in the early 80s with this song. Its so evocative and anyone who has been on the Underground at night can associate with this.
4. The Love Cats - The CureCan't believe no-one has mentioned before what a great band The Cure are. A really great group. Robert Smith is so distinctive and the music so unmistakeable. Probably their biggest and best known hit.
5. Ships In The Night - Be Bop DeluxeNot many people know this lot but they were around at the tail end of the 70s and were a very tight and compact band. Worth checking out.
6. Heart Of Glass - BlondieDebbie Harry - what a babe! What a song. Enough said!
7. Roxanne - The PoliceThe Police lost the plot a bit for me but this is a genuine classic. All about prostitution and with a classic reggae type beat. Its a fantastic pop song.
8. Wouldn't It Be Nice - The Beach BoysBrian Wilson is a hero of mine and the stuff he did like Good Vibrations and God Only Knows is pure genius. This is from Pet Sounds - go and buy it.
9. Sex And Drugs And Rock 'n' Roll - Ian Dury and The BlockheadsA sad loss when he passed on, Mr Dury wrote with real wit and verve - and with a punk sneer too. I love the album New Boots And Panties!! This is one of his best.
10. Itchycoo Park - The Small FacesWhat can you say? Another all-time classic that still sounds as switched on today as it ever did.
