RUSH-hour traffic using the M18 was disrupted this morning by the aftermath of a stolen car chase.
Drivers using the White Rose Way interchange of the motorway were delayed because of a large police presence on the roundabout as they searched for a suspect.

The incident started around 3.40am today when Derbyshire Police informed South Yorkshire Police they were pursuing a blue Ford Ka that was thought to have been stolen.

It was being driven up the M1 and then entered the M18 before trying to perform a U-turn on the junction three interchange. But the Ka containing four men went out of control and collided with a barrier on the slip road.

Three of the car's occupants were detained by police and a search involving the police helicopter and officers from South Yorkshire and Derbyshire forces was made for the fourth man.

None of the detained men was reported to have been injured.
