THREE Doncaster councillors have been shortlisted to be Labour's candidate for elected mayor.

Local Labour Party members will choose between Joe Blackham, Sandra Holland and Glynn Jones when they vote later this month.

The mayoral elections are due to take place next June.

Current mayor Martin Winter, an Independent since a fall out with Labour, has indicated that he will be seeking re-election.

Cllr Jonathan Wood,

Doncaster 16/10/2008 00:13:21
I'm watching with interesting as the Labour candidates slug it out to choose their final selection.
I wonder if we might expect an exciting slugfest along the lines of the one we witnessed when Mayor Winter departed the party a few weeks ago.
I look forward to being able to invite the eventual winner, and Martin to a Mayoral debate in the Dome, or any other neutral venue we can secure. Perhaps the Free Press would like to moderate?

Jonathan Wood, Conservative Mayoral Candidate
