230 redundancies as factory closes

A LONG-established Doncaster factory is to close with the loss of more than 200 jobs.
Tyco Electronics, part of a global firm with headquarters in the United States, will shut its Wheatley factory - trading as Crompton Electric Motors by March.

The factory in Wheatley Hall Road makes small electric motors an shares a site with Cooper Lighting.

Tyco Electronics confirmed the closure with the loss of 230 jobs.

A spokesman for Cooper Lighting stressed its operation on the site was unaffected by Tyco's decision.
