A SUPERB captain's knock from Graham Attenborough saw Doncaster Town return to winning ways at Sheffield Collegiate on Sunday.
All rounder Attenborough, who is currently playing through the pain barrier and unable to bowl, carved a magnificent 88 from just 80 balls including 16 fours and one six.

Andrew Parkin-Coates also made an attractive unbeaten 67, and Gareth Phillip
s stroked 37, as Town posted an impressive 239 for 6 from their 55 overs after being asked to bat first.

In reply Collegiate soon collapsed to 43 for 7 thanks to some excellent bowling by youngster Dominic McGough, promoted from the second XI, and Pakistan seamer Kashif Raza.

But some dogged batting by tailenders Will Root, who remained unbeaten on 60, Andy Simpson (51) and Nadeem Khan (28 not out) - combined with an injury to Raza - meant Collegiate hung on to reach 188 for 8 at the close.

Raza ended with impressive figures of 4-13 in ten overs, while McGough claimed 2 for 40 as Town returned from Abbeydale with eight points.
On Saturday Scarborough made the long journey to Town Fields hoping to avenge their defeat earlier in the season - and the visitors seemed certain winners until the rain intervened.

Away skipper Darren Harland batted through to make a magnificent 102 not out as the Seasiders posted 193 for 3.

McGough again impressed with the ball claiming 2-12.

In reply Town were reeling at 49 for 6 when rain interrupted proceedings before the hosts successfully negotiated ten overs to move on to 77 for 6.

Seventh placed Town travel to Hull on Saturday looking to leapfrog their opponents in the Yorkshire League standings.

On Sunday Attenborough's side will compete in the first ever South Yorkshire Twenty20 Cup finals day at Sheffield United's Bawtry Road ground.

They will face Treeton in the semi-final at 10am with the winners to face either Sheffield Collegiate or Rotherham in the tea-time final.
