Rovers to sign Byfield

NEWLY promoted Doncaster Rovers were set to sign Bristol City top scorer Darren Byfield today after agreeing terms with the pacy Jamaican international.

The 31-year-old was being pursued by several clubs after reaching the end of his contract with City who just missed out on a place in the Premiership when they were beaten in the Championship play-off final by Hull City.

Byfield started his career at Aston Villa and includes Preston, Rotherham, Sunderland and Millwall among his previous clubs.
