BIG striker Gareth Taylor bagged a second half hat trick as Rovers strolled to victory in their opening pre-season friendly after just two days training.
It was the Championship new boys' first outing since their play-off final victory at Wembley and it proved a useful workout for Sean O'Driscoll's squad.

O'Driscoll fielded two different sides in each half, with new signing John Spicer making his
first appearance in a Doncaster shirt after the break, as Rovers began their pre-season programme in comfortable style.

Although a strong starting line up saw the likes of James Coppinger, Adam Lockwood and James Hayter included from the off, Doncaster were immediately put on the back foot by a Rossington side eager to impress.

Right winger Michael MacDonald had already struck the bar with a fierce angled drive before the Northern Counties League side shocked their illustrious rivals by taking a fifth minute lead through striker Lee Holmes.

After dispossessing Rovers midfielder Mark Wilson, Holmes let fly from outside the box and his shot slipped off the wet surface before finding a way past Ben Smith.

Parity was restored five minutes later when record signing Hayter coolly slotted home.

Without really getting out of first gear Rovers stroked the ball around at will and moved into a 6-1 half time lead after strikes from Mark Wilson, Coppinger, Paul Heffernan and Martin Woods (2).

At the interval O'Driscoll introduced a new XI - which included Brian Stock, Sam Hird, Spicer and Taylor - and, although the game became somewhat scrappy, former Welsh international Taylor showed his class with a well-taken treble.
