A NEATLY taken goal from Stuart Elliott four minutes from time earned Doncaster a share of the spoils in a keenly contested pre-season friendly at the Keepmoat.
Elliott lobbed the ball home to give Rovers some reward for their second half pressure after they had trailed for most of the match.
Tall midfielder Ian Morris headed Scunthorpe in front from a 4th minute corner and the visitors generally had the better of things for the first half hour.
Rovers lacked a physical presence in attack although James Hayter worked particularly hard to try and find a way through the well organised Iron defence.
It was not until the 29th minute that Rovers threatened for the first time with Mark Wilson and Brian Stock going close in quick succession.
Hayter had a glancing header saved in the 35th minute before missing a great chance to equalise when he lifted a shot high over the bar after working a neat move with James O'Connor.
Rovers were more dominant after the interval despite manager Sean O'Driscoll making eight changes at half time.
Ritchie Wellens recovered from tonsillitis to have a run out in the second half and Gareth Taylor added the height Doncaster had been missing in attack.
Martin Woods had a well struck free kick saved at full stretch in the 83rd minute before Elliott grabbed the equaliser three minutes later after Taylor had flicked the ball on.
Former Scotland skipper Steven Pressley, who is training with the club after being released by Celtic, played the full match and marshalled the defence impressively as well as looking strong and solid himself.
Team: Sullivan (Smith 46), O'Connor (Boyce 73), Pressley, Hird (Lockwood 46), Roberts (Nelthorpe 46), Spicer ( Fairhurst 69), Stock (Wellens 46), Wilson (Woods 46), Coppinger (Heffernan 46), Hayter (Taylor 46), Guy (Elliott 46).
