A MORE disciplined Doncaster performance paved the way for a comfortable four-try win at Castle Park on Saturday.
Coventry scored first courtesy of a Ronald McLean-Dents penalty, and battled bravely against the new-look Knights.
But the home side's extra power - and much improved scrummaging and lineouts - saw them record their fifth league win to remain in fifth position in National League One.
Stand off Jamie Lennard levelled the scores on eight minutes and then converted a Bryn Griffiths touch down to make it 10-3.
Myles Dorrian reduced the deficit to two points midway through the first half before the Midlanders went ahead thanks to a James Miller score and a McLean-Dents conversion.
A penalty try just before the break, converted by Lennard, restored Lynn Howells' side's lead and seconds later Bevon Armitage forced his way over the line from close range and Lennard again obliged to make it 24-15.
Knights then dominated the start of the second period only to be denied by some stout Coventry defending and sloppy handling errors.
They finally extended their lead on 70 minutes when winger Donovan Van Vuuren scored and Lennard added the extras - only for Chris Hallam to be sin-binned and the visitors to respond with a converted Nathan Jones try.
Lennard's last minute penalty, however, extended the Knights winning margin to 12 points.
